Painter Leah Michele Saulnier's colors, textures and characters seem to jump off the canvas and into our imaginations. Her interiors offer a playful look at the common place as unsuspecting subjects suddenly share the room with unique situations, prankish ideas, or as in the series "Laundry Day", A present day Lady Godiva, who has tossed every stitch of clothing into the same load of a wash. Leah's "Figurative Fantasy" style continues in her Unusual Flowers and Human Faces which may be described, by turns, as winsome, wistful, or willful.
As a child of the 70's, Leah's exposure to life from Chicago to a West Coast "Back to Nature" commune has shaped her ongoing appreciation for colorful nonconformists, (eccentrics,) friendly beasts and the natural realm. Her present life unfolds in a living menagerie of people and pets at her home outside Lamy, New Mexico.
